Well, we’ve been getting a lot of rain lately, perhaps influenced by several cyclones that are in various parts of Australia (or just because it is the wet season!). Heavy rainfall often causes rapid increases in the creek levels in the region. Here are some pictures of the billabong at higher than usual levels (the platform is usually high and dry) and of our backyard showing standing water (actually flowing water for the most part).
The Adelaide River topped off at over 12 m earlier this week, and dropped a staggering 10 m in about 24 hours. Here it is at a little over 11 m. Nearby residents saw a 5 m saltwater crocodile in their back pasture!
